The goal of the Biophysical Society Summer course is to provide undergraduate students interested in careers in Biophysics research and teaching with the opportunity to carry out independent research projects under the guidance of a UNC faculty mentor. This intense 11-week summer research experience will introduce students to cutting-edge biological research and technology, and will provide them with a realistic view of graduate school and biomedical research careers.

The Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) Program was created by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) to increase the number of biomedical and behavioral scientists from minority groups. A key objective of the MARC Program is the encouragement of minority students in the pursuit of graduate training leading to the Ph.D. degree in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.
