Undergraduate Poster Award Competition (UPAC)

Registration Deadline Has Passed

To recognize the increasingly high quality of undergraduate research and to encourage further participation of undergraduates in the Biophysical Society and at the Virtual Annual Meeting, the Society awards and recognizes up to six outstanding students who give the best overall poster presentations during the Virtual Undergraduate Poster Award Competition.

Students are judged on the quality and scientific merit of their research, knowledge of the research problem, contribution to the project, and overall presentation of the poster. Judges look for students to present a clearly stated question, hypothesis, results, and conclusions.

To participate in the Virtual Undergraduate Poster Award Competition, the following rules apply:

  • The student must be a member of the Biophysical Society with current year membership dues paid.
  • The student must be either the first or second author on the poster being presented, with an abstract submitted by the early abstract deadline of October 1, 2020.
  • The student must present the poster during the Virtual Undergraduate Poster Award Competition.

Please note that students who wish to compete using the same poster must be a first or second author on the poster and enter as an individual. Students are also expected to describe their specific role and contribution to the project.

In order to be considered for the poster competition, students must apply to participate. Participants will be asked to pre-record a presentation of their poster. Biophysical Society staff will contact you at a later date with specific instructions on submitting any additional materials required.
