Biophysics topics on Wikipedia are currently rated “C-Class,” so the Biophysical Society is joining with WikiProject Biophysics to sponsor a six month Wiki-Edit Contest aimed at improving the quality of existing pages and increasing the number of biophysics topics covered.
The contest kicked off at the 57th Annual Meeting with a presentation from Loyola University’s Emily Temple-Wood, a Wikipedia expert who is working to improve science articles across the site. Learn more about wiki editing, Wikipedia in general and get tips and tricks for getting started as an editor by looking through the presentation she gave during the meeting.
At the end of six months, six winners will be chosen by a panel of judges who will determine the most improved biophysics-related articles, image collections or other contributions to Wikipedia or Commons. Each winner will receive $100, a barnstar on their talk page, and free registration to the 2014 Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California.
For more information and details on how to enter the contest, visit the BPS Wiki-Edit Contest page, the WikiProject Biophysics page, the Biophysics Wiki-Edit Contest page or search WP:BIOPHYS on Wikipedia or Google.
The deadline to finish your article is July 15, 2013.
