Can I put my resume in the Resume Binder?
Only resumes submitted through the Society Job Board by January 23, 2013 will be included in the binder. If you post your resume to the Board by the January 23 deadline, you will be included in the Resume Binder, available to employers, as well as in a handout that is given to all exhibitors, listing your name, poster title, and poster session time, so any interested employer knows where and when to find you! Sign up early to increase your visibility!
I have a job available at my lab/company. Can I post it in the Career Center?
Yes. If you have a job available, BPS encourages you to post it on the Society Job Board by January 23 for increased visibility and a discounted posting rate! Job postings will also be accepted on-site, but they must be processed through the
jobs website. No company or university is permitted to post flyers in the Career Center or elsewhere in the Pennsylvania Convention Center. All exhibitors can post to the Job Board for FREE!
How do I sign up for a one-on-one resume review session?
The Career Center also hosts several hours of 30-minute one-on-one resume review sessions with career experts. You must sign up in advance to reserve your spot! You will be able to sign up for a review session starting at noon on Saturday, February 2 in the Career Center. Get there early – space is limited and the sessions will fill up quickly!
What should I bring for my resume review?
Bring a printed copy of your resume/CV (resume printing is available in the Career Center for this purpose) and make sure to be on time!
I missed my resume review session. Can I sign up for another one?
No. Unfortunately, you can only sign up one time, as space is limited. As a courtesy to your colleagues, if you know you aren't going to be able to attend your appointment, please cancel your session so someone else may take advantage of this service.
If you missed your session or did not get a spot before space filled up, there will be shorter resume review sessions on Wednesday morning, February 6. These spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
What should I attend?
There are numerous workshops aimed at helping job applicants improve their networking and interview skills, negotiate career transitions, and more!
Read the complete list here! You can also add sessions to your schedule on the
online Itinerary Planner. These workshops do not require advanced registration.
All Career Center sessions will be presented by Monica Weil and/or Joe Tringali, career experts brought in courtesy of the Early Careers Committee. Collectively, Monica and Joe have nearly 50 years of career consulting, recruiting and coaching experience in the biotechnology, life sciences and pharmaceutical industries.
Some sessions will be presented twice during the meeting to give attendees scheduling flexibility without missing helpful workshops. If you miss a workshop, you will not be able to get copies of the slides (for copyright reasons), so be sure to schedule carefully!
