ROCKVILLE, MD – The Biophysical Society (BPS), an international organization sharing knowledge and supporting scientists in the field of biophysics, recognizes the negative impact of the recent Supreme Court of the United States ruling, Dobbs v. the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, on many within our membership. By rescinding the previously granted rights of Roe v. Wade, this ruling gives states sole power in establishing access to healthcare and will have repercussions in the personal, educational, and professional lives our community.

As researchers in basic and biomedical science, we support the belief that politics have no place in determining healthcare choices. BPS remains steadfast in our commitment to empowering women and supporting all underrepresented groups in science.
