The primary paradigm in precision medicine is the ability to identify the molecular pathogenesis of a disease in an individual patient and to tailor the most appropriate therapeutic interventions to prevent/treat the disease. In the first step, precision medicine requires the collection of patient-specific multi-omics data in diverse populations. Recent advances in high-throughput genome sequencing and sensing technologies have the potential to enable the capturing of comprehensive patient-specific molecular profiling at scale. In conjunction with this profiling, improvements in artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms will add additional capability to analyze and extend the information from the orginal data.
In this event, we will discuss how these innovations in science and technology are creating a new era of precision medicine. Speakers include three thought-leaders from biotech companies who are propelling this revolution: Dr. David Reese (Executive Vice President, Research and Development, Amgen), Dr. Fiona Kaper (Vice President, Research and Technology, Distinguished Scientist, Illumina), and Dr. Seth Sadis (Senior Director, Clinical Sequencing Division, Thermo Fischer). We will hear their road map for the future of precision medicine, including where we are now, what are the challenges we need to overcome, and what is the ultimate destination for the field as a whole.
