Tuesday, Nov 09, 2010 - Friday, Nov 12, 2010 Export event
Event Location: 11 Kent Ridge Drive Singapore 119244 Kent Ridge Dr, Singapore 119244
This meeting was organized by the Biophysical Society and the Mechanobiology Institute (MBI). It represents a desire by the Biophysical Society to bring together biophysicists on important topics outside of the US. For the MBI, it represents the 4th Annual Mechanobiology Meeting and the series will continue next year.
There has been a dramatic growth in the interest in the physical aspects of biological functions over the last several years as more and more people realize that mechanical factors are critical in growth, differentiation, regeneration, aging, and many diseases. Since cellular level forces are primarily derived from actomyosin contractions event in nonmuscle cells, the control of actin dynamics is a critical step in controlling cell form and function. In addition to providing the basis for cellular structure, actin seems to play a number of interesting roles even in the cell nucleus.
